The foundation of this incredible soap is a high-quality goat’s milk melt and pour soap base. I’ve worked extensively with this particular base, and its consistent performance and the incredibly luxurious feel it imparts to the skin always impress me. Goat’s milk is renowned for its skin-loving properties, making it an ideal choice for anyone seeking a gentle, moisturizing, and nourishing cleanser. It’s naturally rich in alpha-hydroxy acids (like lactic acid), vitamins, and minerals, which work together to gently exfoliate, hydrate, and maintain the skin’s natural barrier. Using a melt and pour base makes the soap-making process incredibly accessible, even for beginners, as it eliminates the need to handle lye, simplifying the craft without compromising on quality or creativity.

To infuse this homemade goat’s milk soap with its signature seasonal aroma, I blended my favorite Apple Pie Spice with a touch of clove essential oil. This combination isn’t just a scent; it’s an experience. It evokes crisp autumn days, cozy evenings by the fireplace, and the comforting warmth of freshly baked apple pie. The apple pie spice provides a complex sweetness with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, while the clove essential oil adds a deep, spicy, and slightly woody note, perfectly rounding out the fragrance profile. This aromatic blend transforms a simple shower or bath into a luxurious, fall-inspired escape, creating an atmosphere of tranquility and warmth right in your own home.

Beautifully crafted Apple Cinnamon Goat's Milk Soap bars, adorned with dried apple slices and cinnamon sticks, making them perfect for gifting.

Beyond its captivating scent, I wanted this soap to be visually appealing, embodying a rustic, autumnal charm. To achieve this, I incorporated dried apple slices and cinnamon sticks directly into the soap bars. These natural elements not only enhance the aesthetic appeal but also reinforce the theme, making each bar a small work of art. The gentle brown hues of the cinnamon sticks and the delicate texture of the dried apple slices add a handmade, artisanal touch that store-bought soaps often lack. This attention to detail makes this DIY soap an exceptional choice for a thoughtful gift. Imagine presenting these beautifully scented and decorated bars to friends, family, or colleagues – it’s a personal gesture that speaks volumes about care and craftsmanship.

Why Choose Goat’s Milk Soap? The Benefits for Your Skin

Goat’s milk is celebrated for its incredible benefits for all skin types, including sensitive and dry skin. It’s packed with vitamins (especially A, B1, B6, B12, C, D, and E), minerals, fatty acids, amino acids, and lactic acid. Lactic acid, an alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA), gently helps to remove dead skin cells, promoting a smoother, brighter complexion. Its unique protein structure helps the skin absorb moisture more effectively, leading to profound hydration. Unlike many commercial soaps that can strip the skin of its natural oils, goat’s milk soap maintains the skin’s natural pH balance, which helps to prevent dryness, irritation, and inflammation. The natural fats in goat’s milk also contribute to a rich, creamy lather that feels incredibly luxurious and leaves skin feeling soft, supple, and healthy. Integrating such a powerhouse ingredient into your daily routine is a simple yet effective way to boost your skin’s vitality and overall well-being.

This beautiful soap smells like fall! It gives a rich lather and also makes a lovely DIY for someone special.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb goat’s milk melt and pour soap base, cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 tsp apple pie spice
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 10 drops clove essential oil
  • 4 dried apple slices

Instructions

  1. Place one dried apple slice at the bottom of each of your four silicone soap molds. This will ensure they are beautifully showcased once the soap hardens.
  2. Add the pre-cut soap cubes into a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 30 seconds to begin the melting process. Continue microwaving at 10-second intervals, stirring thoroughly in between each interval, until the soap base is completely melted and smooth. Be careful not to overheat the soap.
  3. Once melted, quickly stir in the clove essential oil and apple pie spice. Work swiftly as the melt and pour base will begin to set as it cools. Pour the scented soap mixture carefully over the apple slices into the silicone soap molds. Immediately after pouring, gently place one cinnamon stick into the top of each soap bar, pressing it slightly to ensure it embeds. Allow the soaps to sit undisturbed at room temperature for at least 40 minutes, or until completely solidified. For best results and faster setting, you can place them in the refrigerator.
  4. To remove the finished soap bars, simply turn over the silicone mold and gently push on the bottom of each cavity. The flexible silicone makes it easy to pop out your beautiful, homemade apple cinnamon goat’s milk soaps without damage.

Equipment

  • Silicone soap molds
  • Microwave-safe bowl(s)
